Theme 1 is focused on setting the technical agenda for CUbiC by defining ambitious system-level goals for the future of connectivity. The theme aims to develop architectures and algorithms that are tightly coordinated with hardware development in Themes 2 and 3. The goals of Theme 1 include accelerating computation-intensive Cloud data center applications, such as AI and ML, and next-generation immersive wireless networks with capacities reaching 10 Tb/s per square km.
The Theme 1 team includes faculty who bring a fresh perspective and track record on experimental research, which translates hardware innovations into system- and network-level functionalities. In summary, Theme 1 is focused on developing new technologies and approaches to improve connectivity by accelerating computation-intensive applications and creating next-generation wireless networks.
