Congratulations to CUbiC PI Tingjun Chen (Duke University), who was awarded the NSF CAREER Award to continue expanding his fiber research!

The Center for Ubiquitous Connectivity (CUbiC) deepens its system-level mission to reimagine energy-efficient communication—from next-gen wireless to AI data center infrastructure.

CUbiC PI John Bowers is set to retire. As an emeritus professor at UC Santa Barbara, he will continue to do research particularly in silicon photonics. 

CUbiC PI Srabanti Chowdhury received The Quantum Devices Award for her pioneering contributions to engineered thermal interfaces that break the phonon mismatch diffusion limit between Diamond and semiconductors and
to vertical power devices in GaN.

CUbiC scholar Ramin Javadi (OSU) and PI Anand were interviewed regarding their research which earned Javadi the Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference in Boston.

"The study, “3D Photonics for Ultra-Low Energy, High Bandwidth-Density Chip Data Links,” led by Keren Bergman, Charles Batchelor Professor of Electrical Engineering, is published today in Nature Photonics. The research details a pioneering method that integrates photonics with advanced complementary-metal- oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) electronics to redefine energy-efficient, high-bandwidth data communication. This innovation addresses critical challenges in data movement, a persistent obstacle to realizing faster and more efficient AI technologies."
